EDUCATION-ADULT Government, Education & Individuals
Part-time Coordinators in our Venice and North Port offices match trained volunteers with adults who want to improve their English. One-to-one in-person and online tutoring classes are held at both the North Port and Venice Libraries. Citizenship classes are also available to help our immigrant neighbors prepare for their Citizenship test. All that we do can be summed up by helping motivated adults that are new to our country unlock their potential, so they can earn a piece of the American Dream for themselves and their families.
Imagine being unable to read a prescription label, understand a note from your child’s school, fill out a medical or insurance form, speak with your supervisor with confidence, or prepare for a citizenship interview. For many adults learning English, these everyday tasks can feel like walls instead of steps forward.
Limited literacy is not limited intelligence. It is not a lack of ambition. Most of our learners are hardworking people who came here hoping to build safer, more secure lives. They want what generations of Americans have wanted: the chance to work, contribute, and earn their place in the American dream. We exist to help them reach it.
